Autumn Festival at the Library

In the book Hello, Tashkent!, a little bird named Gorlashka leads children and adults through courtyards and city landmarks. Following the little bird, we will look up at the treetops and cornices and get to know more closely those who live alongside us.

On the first weekend of September, readers will meet ornithologists and birdwatchers, take part in the Birds.uz quiz, read a poignant story about a toucan living on a plastic island in Korean, and explore an encyclopedia about the birds of Paris in French.

Composer and musicologist Zarina Khodieva will introduce children to Olivier Messiaen’s bird catalogue, ballerina and birdwatcher Asal Usmanova will gather young artists into a flock, while artist and jeweler Aziza Karieva will create a bird mascot together with the children.

We will learn to distinguish different bird calls, observe the movement of a flock, create a sound archive, and discover how a familiar city reveals itself in a new way when we look up and listen more attentively.
